Cleaning

I just got my Xterra, and the dealer sprayed some chemical cleaner on it that messed up the plastic dial covers. What are the best cleaners to use on the interior and the exterior of the Xterra?

I have washed it a couple times and I notice that there is a white film building up on the plastic moldings and at the base of the wipers. Any ideas?

I would take it back to the dealer. They did it, they are responisible.

Use a damp rag with plain old water to wipe down the interior. That's all you need for the inside. I don't use Armorall or anything like that, but my Xterra is garaged most of the time. I live in Arizona and haven't needed any of the "sun protection" offered(claimed) by these products. Plus they leave a nasty film.
If you have a local speed shop in your area go there to buy car wash. They usually will carry the good stuff. They're likely to carry good wax as well. I like liquid carnuba. It wipes on and wipes right off. That way you don't have to spend hours washing and waxing. I know people that are into show cars and they use the same stuff.

Also don't get wax on the plastic, that will keep that white stuff from accumulating. Try removing it with a soft bristled tooth brush next time you wash your truck.

there is a product called "back to black", i used it on my old truck and it worked great. but it didn't last that long.

I have noticed a white film buildup on my wife's 02 VW Passat, I think it is from the wax they use in the drive-thorugh car wash places. I never use the wax at the car wash on my X, I do it by hand and try not to get it on the mouldings.

My rig seems to be filthy most of the time so I dont notice stuff but when I get off my arse and clean it I use Xymol wax and it does a damn fine job.
I had serious white build up inside the truck - turned out to be Husky fur.. damn stuff NEVER comes out... Its pretty much the dogs territory now:p
