1:18 Scale Forum?

Okay, an idea is being tossed around and I am bringing it to you, the members of AF, about creating another forum for those of you, including myself, that collect 1:18 or other diecast models. This of course are models that come already assembled, so they really don't fit in the current modeling section of AF.
This section would cover all sizes, not just 1:18 scale, but all diecasts. Now I personally collect 1:18 scale strictly, but I know of a few folks on here who collect other scales and I think it would be nice if we could also display, maybe talk about these models etc.
So if you would like to see this materialize, please cast your vote in the poll, not only in your post. I hope that this will soon be a reality.
Thank you.
DVS

Well, Jose, I collect 1/43 scale as well, but I see no point in splitting from this forum. I mean all of us are interested in, e.g. your models, so I don' see a problem. My vote goes to "Nay" :)

I don't know if a forum would be what we need, maybe that and a gallery just for diecasts.

I can't figure out my own opinion on this. :bloated:
I know it's not a matter of scale or construction material, but really of the difference between collecting and/or building models. I don't know if the different interests of these groups warrants segregation. I've been on both sides of the fence, and now I'm back in the middle.
I know we don't see a lot of diecast discussion in this forum now, but that doesn't mean it's not welcome, of course... I was mainly wondering if it would be possible to generate enough activity to support another forum.
(And DVS, you are hard to find on AIM! :p I have a "package" for you... More on that later. ;))

Jay...if you like to address the package c/o PMan...i'll see that DVS gets it
DVS....Start building some instead:finger: ..j/k
As for spliting the forum up i'd have to say i'll sit on the fence !!
I guess it wouldn't really hurt to start one and see how much interest there is....but IMO i'd like to see the forum stay as one as 99.9% is about cars/painting etc etc
Maybe just adding them to the gallery is enough.

Well I wasn't looking so much for a split as I was to look for support for the diecast. Since the bulk of members on here are builders, I thought that maybe a separate forum would be acceptable. But if everyone feels that there doesn't need to be a separation, than it shall be so. I just want to see what everyone's thought is.

!m not against anyone who collects ready built models in any scale, I have a few myself and think they are really cool. However i just dont know what your all going to talk about???? "I brought an Auto Art WRX today, it cost like £40, its on my shelf now and its the blue one!!!" I just dont get it, am i missing anything here?
But I do know that some people like to convert and customize them which is a lot more interesting and would be something more suited to the model forum.
If there is a big demand for a seperate dedicated forum then go for your life, I may check it out now and again but im gonna vote no!;)

Maybe a separate forum isn't what should be done here, but i definately think that we should have a gallery for diecasts, in fact i think i'll go take some pictures of all my diecasts right now.
does a diecast gallery sound like a good idea or should we just bag the whole idea?

I'm for the diecast forum, and I modify some of them.

I think that modelling doesn't different shape in scale and material.
What I think that snowboarder's idea sounds great, why not we give a try for a diecast gallery. If it doesn't work out, we shall talk about that again? :)

More or less, this idea is also acceptable. A gallery for them is plenty welcomed. Come now, I know there are more of you out there, let's see some responses.:D

I think its a good idea, everyone loves die-cast cars in one way or another. And its pretty much the only car related thing that doesnt have a forum.

AMEN!! I find the die-cast crowd to be a rather boring lot with little imagination or creativity. If you think this will "add" to the forums go for it, but my vote is no thanks.
