I thought GM did away with 4 wheel disc brakes and went back to rear drums. Looking at the GM website today it shows 4 wheel disc brakes as standard equipment on the 1500HD series, Hybrid series and Denali series Chevrolet and GM truck.

Grum brakes Just on the 1500 tried to get disc brakes for my truck not a option. The hd,hybrid are heavier I'am guessing that why they have disc.

I have a 2003 Z-71, 1500 series, and it came from the factory with 4 wheel disc brakes. I even double checked the window sticker. It does have drum brakes in the rear, but that is just the emergency brake.

I think it was in 06 (i could be wrong on the year) they went back to rear drums. people complained the felt soft. the hds have a hydra boost wich makes them really stiff so they kept the disc all around. My wife has an 03 1500 z71 and i have an 03 2500hd and the brake feel on them is night and day. She hates how sensitive mine are and I dont like how soft hers are. I wouldnt complain about hers if that what I drove all the time but you get used to one thing then its hard to change.
