I need some help. I am currently changing the alternator on my dads '99 f150, 4.6L. The problem I'm having is getting the damn belt loose. What do I need to loosen the tensioner pulley?. Or, is there any kind of guide, with pictures :) that can run me threw the entire process of pulling off the alternator?
Thanks a million

Always buy a repair manual for any vehicle you own if you plan on working on it yourself. I use the Haynes manuals and you can get them at most auto parts stores. And yes they have step by step instructions and pictures. Good luck.

It should be a 3/8" ratchet for the tensionor. three or four bolts should hold the alternator on. BE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY! hope this helps!

Well judging from the year the poster first posted this issue, I'm thinking he may have actually fixed the problem a few years ago. but hey good advice otherwise.
