Road Racing Application

I'm currently building a B16A2 that I would like to use in a road racing application. I figured that its high revving nature would complement turbocharging it as I go along. My question is that since it does rev high, would a small turbo be the way to go since they spool up and and are topping out in lower rpm? That's kinda the area I was targeting, so I would achieve good quick acceleration. Also what would be the smallest turbo that would be appropriate for this sort of application, perhaps the Garrett T3 or something else?

Thank you,

Nabeeh Hasan

the stock mistubishi turbo's should work fine. i think they are the T25. i'm not sure. T3 would be ok. its not the biggest nor smallest.:)

Thank you for the response.

My concern is that when you're in the lower to middle of the rev range these turbos are already fully spooled. I don't know much about turbos, but as the revs increase, isn't the turbo going to reach a certain point of where it can no longer handle the pressure? Is that what blow off valves and boost controllers are for?

Well I was looking for a turbo to recycle from the local salvage yard. The Garretts and Mitsubishis seem to be plentiful, but are there other brands that have good small turbos?

Again thank you,

Nabeeh
