If it was going wacko before ya its probably the sending unit..........

I said probably, but I dont know of a way to test it or else I would of on mine to double check it

If the sending unit loses ground, the dash gauge will register past "FULL". It could have lost ground in the sending unit itself, or anywhere from the connector at the sender to the ground on the frame. Either way you need to drop the tank to check for ground at the sender connector. If there is less than 5 ohms resistance, replace the sender.

My sending unit was erradict, sometimes reading full and then reading empty/ I call and got a price for it and was told I had to buy the fuel pump assembly. Well, my fuel pump worked fine. I couldn't see paying 300 dollars for the sending unit and pump. I dropped the tank and examined the sending unit. I saw the contacts where bent and made contact part of the time. I took the sending unit off and took it apart, and bent the contacts back, reassembled it and it works fine again, It wasn't that hard to do for me, I know the fuel pump will eventually go out on my truck. I felt it was a gamble, but being financially strapped, I took my chances. It's been two months and all is well. The sending
unit resistance is 250 OHMS, just in case any one needs to know that.
