What reading do most of you get on your oil pressure gauge?
When Idleing?
When driving on hwy?
I have a 98 Trooper with 103k miles....I use Valvoline max life 10w30.
Mine usualy reads 85 while on the hwy but when at a stop light it is around 40.

Is this normal?

I just installed my guage on a 2000 trooper, and got just about the same readings.

This is from alldata.com

Oil Pressure at 3000 rpm
Note: With engine at normal operating temperature (about 80C [176F]).392-550 kPa (56.9-80.4 psi)

i have a 97 trooper with a guage and mine reads 85 when going down the highway. at an idle it varies from 50-85 depending on the temp. if you look real hard at your guage there is a little dot at about 40 a believe this is a minimum oil pressure mark. mine has never went below that mark.

hot or cold? in fact what are your readings for cold and hot, idle and let's say 2500 rpm or 3000 rpm or so.
