The STD was the 4spd one.

I'm not all sure but you would need a Manual Tranny, linkage, clutch pedal, all that crap.

STD stands for Standard. It was 4spd Manual and maybe (I assume 3 spd) Auto, not sure about Auto though. It had 70hp. You can pick them out because they are the ones with the black panel between the rear lights. Si and DX had all red.

It was probably an option. My DX didn't come with one, I ordered in installed one myself.

cool, cool it is a std im prolly not gonna buy it unless im going to pay someone to do a b16 swap in it, i dont know much about cars but i love spee and 70hp and 4 gears wont provide that, my old crx had a b16 and god i loved that car it was faster that any honda i have ever drove

Well if you haven't bought it yet I probably wouldn't. Hold out and find at least a DX, or Si at best. I have a DX and it is still damn good, I could take out stock Sis with the stuff I got now. So good enough. And get Manual!

u can use an SI tranny. As far as i know if u have a 4spd tranny u can just swap the 5spd in & the only thing different r the axles and knuckles. Everything else should just bolt right up.

A friend from work was telling me that the 4 spd civics are the best ones to use...

Apparently his cousin who works in a speed shop said that the gear ratios are the best for drag racing...

I have no idea if this is true at all, because I know nothing about hondas, but he said you use that transmission with a b16 or something

Any truth to this?

I don't if they're the best but I have a DX engine with a 4spd & i ca go forever thru the gears. I don't have a tac yet but it's cool 2 be next 2 someone & they're changing into 3rd and ur just 1/2way thru 2nd.

1st ~40mph
2nd ~60mph
3rd ~80mph

I got the STD 4-speed model and i can run an 18.7@73 mph in the quater mile. They good thing about the std is that they are so light weight that droping a differnet engine in it compared to a DX or Si or have faster time slips, only problem is the wiring:confused:
