I went to start the vehicle and when I turned the key nothing happened. The power was dead. The key was stuck in the ignition and wouldn't turn back far enough to remove. Several hours later I opened the car door and the power was back. I tried to start the vehicle again and the same thing happened. No power and the key is stuck in the ignition. During all this the battery was charged, the car was in park and the steering column wouldn't lock. Any thoughts?

Can you give me some info on how you resolved this problem. I have similar problem. I dropped steering column to change heater core and when I put the column back up I can not get the key out and my shifter does not seem to shift the same. Kind of sticks. I have the column hanging right now with key stuck in ignition. I also could not get the high beams to work.

I doubt I can help. My problem was the battery terminals had built up corrosion on them. The battery was charged but there wasn't a good connection so it had no power. I cleaned the terminals and everything is fine.
