I have a 93 civic with the 1.5L engine and an automatic transmission. Recently it started blowing out white smoke while sitting still at an idle which cause it to also idle rough. Once you get on the gas it runs fine with no smoke. I have never owned a honda before so I need some advice.
Are headgaskets a common problem on these civics?
Is it running too lean on gas?

sounds like a headgasket. usualy when u hit b/e 100k-150k its near time to change the gasket.check your spark plugs, get a compresion test done, and mayb a leakdown test. which have you had to refill on the most coolant or oil?

What should the spark plugs look like if it was burning coolant? It dosen't go thru any oil and there isn't any coolant in the oil either. I haven't had to refill on the coolant either but it just started doing this.

Keep a close eye on your fluid levels. Check you oil and coolant every time you fill up the gas tank.
