I have a 2001 Grand caravan and the driver side window won't go up or down I've replaced the switch twice and that doesn't seam to be the problem I think it might be the window regulator if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Also there seams to be some kind of knocking noise coming from the engine i hope its nothing serious.

Remove the door trim panel. Gain access to the window motor. Reconnect the switch panel you disconnected to remove the trim panel. Turn the ignition key to acc. Try to raise the window. If you see/hear/feel the motor try to actuate, inspect the window tracks and mechanism for binding. If not, disconnect the motor's electrical connector. Using a meter or test light verify you're getting 12 VDC at the motor connector when you actuate the switch. If it's there, replace the motor. If there is no voltage, verify you're getting voltage to the switch panel. If yes, then I would suspect the Express Down Module that appears to be part of the door switch panel (unless you changed the entire switch panel instead of the individual switch). If not, then there is a broken wire from there to the Junction Block Panel. Since the rest of the windows are working, you know the fuses are good.

Most likely the motor is shot. I've never changed one so I can't tell you what to watch for. Shouldn't be too tough. If you're lucky, the "engine knock" might be the Duty Cycle Purge Solenoid on the left side near the coolant overflow bottle. It sounds like a tapping lifter when actuated. If not you could carefully try using a 2-3 foot piece of garden hose (a makeshift stethoscope)to isolate the knock. Let us know what you find.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the motor problem. In my case, the motor didn't totally fail. I took the door panel off and then the moter cover and the motor core. Cleaned the core a littel bit and put all back in. It works again.

I have a 2002 Town and Country and the drivers window was giving me the same problem. If I recall correctly, one of the relays was bad. It was covered under warranty in my case so I'm not sure how much it would cost.
