I recently turned 18 and aquired a job that will allow me to buy a corvette. I was look for a 1993-1996. The insurance will be under my dads name so i was wondering what some of the older guys were paying. I currently have a 1985 Z28, but i know that will pale in comparison to a newer model corvette. Thanks

Hi,

Your gonna get creamed on insurance just because of your age.

I was supprised at how cheep it was once I turned 26 and then when I got married as well. I've got a 1979. I'm 35 and I've got coverage with American Family Insurance for $170 a year with unlimited mileage. Includes 2nd car discount and Home/auto combo discount...which isn't really much of a discount but I'll still take it. The fact that the car qualifies as a "collector" car (over 25 years old) in Wisconsin really, really helps with the price too.

It all depends on whether you're getting full coverage or just liability. My first car was an '87 corvette that I got on my 16th B-day. With just state-minimum liability, (oklahoma) it would run me about $300 every 6 months w/my dad as the primary driver and me as a secondary driver. (wink, wink) I now have a '92 as my daily driver with the policy solely in my name, and I still pay the same $300 every six months. I'm not 24 yet, but i'm married so I get the same discount as if I was 24. My coverage is with Farm Bureau. If you're getting full-coverage....I have no idea!
