CPI nut kit question

has anyone thought about replacing the nut kit with regular high pressure fuel line of some sort? or is it even something possible to do?

It might be possiable but not practiable.
Start rigging it up and you may wind up with all kinds of problems
Just put on a new nut kit and be safe rather than sorry.
A new nut kit It should outlast the engine.

10-4 on the No-Juryrigging. You're talking about the fuel system, squirting gasoline at 60 lbs. pressure. Don't take chances, fix it right.

i actually did some juryriging during my nut kit replacement (really had no choice at the time). i replaced the cpi but i found the torx bolt on holding the nut kit was stripped out. after trying for 3hrs to get it off, i had run out of time for the day. i used liquid cement to patch the hole plus a piece of fuel hose over it with a hose clamp. this was a temoporary fix for just one day. the next day, i bought stud removers and was able to remove the torx bolt and replace the nut kit.
but yea i third the motion on no juryrigging, especially for a perminant solution, and as rick said gas is being pumped through those hoses at 60+ psi so do it right. new components, according to gm, should last 5-7 years.

When you get the old one off you can tell more about it.
They use the white farily hard plastic/nylon with a molded elbo tubing that slips on over a barb fitting.
The plastic tubing gets cooked by the heat inside the engine and cracks or gets a pin hole in it.

Well just think about it a minute.
How many engines did they make that uses that nut kit.
How many nut kits does GM OEM parts sell?
How many dollars do they make on each 75-85$ nut kit sale?
Say 50$ times how many kits they sell.
Does that not Add up into big bucks and into whos pocket?
And that is after they give you one of them Employee /family discount deals plus the no interest and easy payments.
Now ask yourself if they were not thinking ahead.:grinyes: :lol:

Do not kid yourself them engineers know how long that stuff is going to last.
And they have got it figured out much they can make off of replacement parts sales. :grinyes: :lol:

I'll second that

chassie, body, moter, there needs to be flex in the fuel line somewhere, that is the most practical place, make it out of hard line, and someone up here where i am will have a serious problem on a cold december morning
