Depends on what you need it for. Great little compact econo car to get you from point A to point B. Can't really tell you on driving experiences because I have never driven one. Instead of one word descreptions, maybe a little detail to help those who asked a question. Try explaining why you think it is the way you say it is.
If you really want to see something amazing, try on a Hi-boost turbo on these bad boys and watch it double the HP numbers on stock internals (close to 300HP).
EDIT: Look for the new MPS3 (Mazdaspeed3) which should alose be loads of fun for those who want everything now and don't want to put in aftermartket. So as you can see various paths with the 3 that make it lots of fun.

A friend of mine has one. It's a nice car, pretty slow though.

Compared to other econosedans, it's pretty quick, with 160 hp and just as much torque, but its real calling card is its handling. I know the Corolla XRS, Civic Si, Sentra SE-R Spec V, and Lancer Ralliart all have it beat (okay, maybe not the Ralliart), but those all cost $18,000+; the Mazda3 starts in the 14's. It's a great value.

They're amazing value for money... I used to like em until Top Gear reviewed em... Hammond called it the "exact opposite of a premium car" Hell, if it drove nice, i'd hit that.

I've driven a friends, and its not bad...Its got alot of features for an economy car and a really nice interior...its practical and roomy
but its not performance, and will not be performance and handling unless you make some changes...I don't find its a blast to drive like the Protege /5 but its decent

It's pretty slow...8.1 0-60. Not sure about the 1/4 though. It does handle very very well and the stock stereo sounds pretty good to me.
