got into an accident with 06 civic

so the 06 civic was in the 1 or 2 lane and went out of control because she was trying to switch lanes when another car from the lane over was trying to switch into the same lane also. she went back to her lane and started to lose control and started to fishtail. she hit the center divider and came all the way to my lane which was lane 5, hit the edge and stopped there. i had about less than a second to react.. i think i hit the car at 10-20mph? her car was sideways and i hit her on the rear passenger quarter panel. its not my fault right? i dont think it was

i got out of my car and she was on the phone crying talking to someone.. the police came and 2 witnesses came also and gave the police their info. i asked the police if i could have it and he said no it will be in the police report. she finally got out of the car and was still hysterically crying. the highway patrol came and took reports, then i asked if i could exchange info with the other driver. the officer said it's in the report, he gave me a card with info on it to give to my insurance. and he said my insurance will get it from the report. the officer was being a d$%k i think. my car could drive and wasn't leaking anything, i pushed my coolant box back in the socket and turned the car back on. now the throttle stick and revs to about 2000rpm, i have to use my foot to pull the pedal up for it to go to normal. so i basically drove home. i had to pull out the bumper so it wouldn't scrap the wheel though. i'll have pictures up later.

is it possible to get it fixed by their insurance or is the value of my car too little? if thats the case, how much are they going to pay out? my car is salvage title also. I'll need basically a new front end, hood, fenders, bumper, lights.

Damn that sucks. It sucks because your car is fucked and you can't really do anything about it except bite the bullet and try to fix it yourself. Maybe you can get the police report and if you really had time and money to invest, you can get a lawyer and sue that bitch for "reckless endangerment" or something that sounds damaging. Even if you lose the case, that woman will always have a file for being sued for reckless endangerment which serves her right for fucking up your pride and joy.

That's what I meant by fixing it yourself, dude. If they total your car (which they'll probably do), then you can buy it back and fix it, but you know the estimate of repair will be more than what they offer. You have a nice ride, perhaps you can work some magic and get it right again. Her car on the other car is toast...

if they total my car i have to buy it from them? but its in my possession now. i drove it home. why would i buy back my car? sorry i don't really understand becaus i've never been in an accident.

if the frame is not bent they prob. wont total it...but if the total cost is more than they think its worth they will...
eather way keep the car...it dosnt look that bad...
maybe a hood, fender, radiator support... maybe a bumper support and if your picky a bumper.

unfortunetly they are probably going to total it. a hatch with a salvage title blue books for about 800 and that looks like more than $800 worth of damage i got 600 just for a fender and corner light. but they might give you enough for the car and pain and suffering to get the car back and get a sir front end

yeah they are definetly going to total your car for sure. you'll get bluebook for it. you can then buy it back like everyone else said. The first think I would do is look under the hood for any obvious crinkles in the unibody.

3-4 yrs ago i got in an accident i hit a bmw and was rearended total cost of the job to fix was $4000+ they didnt total out my car though it looked pretty totaled. man she looked brand freakin new for aweek, and i wasnt even home for that week, first day home runnin some erands and bamb old couple slams and bounces off a minivan flew in the air 5 feet and head on colided with a brand new 1,000,000 optimum online truck, i hit the opt trucks trailor hitch and the way my car looked after that was the way i bought it. guess she just liked to look that way. i see about 1500-2000 worth of damage but thats at NY hookup price. now see heres the thing althought this really does suck you should maybe think about getitng it into a tech center. kids cna leanr on it teacher can help them and well best of all tis cheaper and they will do basicly anything reguardless of if its "totaled" or not. something like that is really a "quick fix" new fenders, bumper and probably the hood. a few moutns from a parts civic and paint nad shes good to go. and from the looks of thigns im guessing your frame isnt squashed.

dang that sucks man. I sideswiped someone with my '02 civic ex...almost 3k in repairs. that's why I'm driving my '89 Civic LX and my dad took the newer one. hahaha. That front end on the girls car looks nasty! i'd hate to call my parents to say I just smashed the entire front end of my brand spanking new honda civic (from the rims, EX) in. and some old civic just rear ended me (i know it wasnt your fault).

well she probably thinks that shes got the bombest car on the road and can wip it all over and be ok, but you gotta have skills to do that. i can tell that he saw her comming and stopped to avoid her but she hit him on the way into the guard rail shown by the skid marks going str8 then angle to the right so at least hes not at all at fault. well as for a tech center it all depends really what area your in but there out there. as for the kids in tech centers well unless there highly advanced or trained i doubt they know how to use a frame puller. as for body work well shit jsut have htem order the new panels and call ti a day.

Yeah I would definetly NOT take my car to a tech school/center or whatever you want to call it. I went to tech in highschool and most of those kids are there cause they are just plain idiots and can't handle normal school. I'm going to an automotive college now and still a lot of the kids there have a hard time understanding lefty loosey, righty tighty.

every state, every ins company is different. however it does look like enough damage to "total" the car.

if they "total" the car they take your car and give you a check. you can buy back the car and they will give you the car + a check minus what they think it is now worth. example:

total, they keep the car = $2400 check
total, you keep the car = $2000 check + car

unfortunatly they will be paying so they decide if it's "totalled" or if it can be fixed for a "reasonable" amount.

it will most likely be "totalled" as even though you can replace some of the parts with used which will bring the cost down....they will still figure paint + shop time. and when they paint a hood it has to be blended into the fenders and so on. some lady backed into our civic with her truck. the trailor hitch left a big fat dent in the hood and a tear in the bumper. her ins. cut us a check for $1200 to cover used hood, used bumper, used filler piece, paint, + shop time......to give you an idea.

i would let someone back into my car for 1200 bucks!

generally i probably would too because i would replace the hood with CF which doesn't need paint :naughty:

however, my brother-in-law had "bought" the car and was friving from reno to pick it up in 5 days....it was the last day we were going to drive it and of course the accident happened in the parking lot at our shop :banghead: thanks to the lady he never came to pick the car and instead we had to drive it there after it was fixed

so i'm still waiting for payment. they totaled it... the other insurance AAA said that there was state property damage and can't pay out until they know how much. they also said there might be a liability limits issue also.. i found out my car isn't driveable afterall. the motor/transmission was moved over and ripped the inner cv boot. its just barely holding in there. i'm suprised my a/c still works.

That sucks man..I went over a median after I hit a bump and pulled the cv shaft out some and tore the boot, it sucked...everything was shifted.

liability limits issues arrive when she doesnt have enough on her policy to cover the cost of the damages. they most likely are in the process of trying to figure out the rest of the total property damage amount in an effort to figure out what they will pay for each claimants damages not to exceed the amount of what she was covered for in her policy. your car doesnt look like its worth more than $3000. so you may be lucky and get your full payout assuming the damages to other property isnt that much either. if she does not have enough coverage to cover you, then, hopefully, you have uninsured collision coverage or full coverage. if you dont, then, take her to small claims court.

from the tire skid marks in your photograph, it almost looks like SHE hit YOU with her quarter panel. make sense? she's heading at a 45 degree angle crossing in front of you, and basically clips your side. and knocks your car off to the right. see the sharp angle in your skid mark? if anyone gives you crap about whose fault it was just bring attention to the fact that SHE hit YOU.

yeah, the police report says she made an unsafe lane change that caused her to get out of control. so it is her fault.
