Strange Battery Drain / front spring problem

2 problems, iginition/battery and front passanger side coil,
I just bought a used 2000 cavalier with about 115K kilometers (71K Miles). The car was bought at auction with a fresh safety. When I went to drive it home from the auction it needed a boost. One of the auction attendants told me the car had sat all winter and the battery is probably toast. So I put a new battery in it.
Everything was workin fine with the new battery until today. It started this morning after sitting for the weekend, it started to go home for lunch. But on my way back to work my battery is dead. But strangely when I boosted it there was instantly full power... battery didn't seem drained at all. Could this be an ignition problem... like, say, the high currrent problem in the ignition for the recalls? (I am going to check right away if the ignition recall was performed on it)
2nd problem, at a stand still or at very slow speeds in forward or reverse if I crank the wheel the coil spring on the passanger side goes " SPROIIINNNNG". Otherwise the car drives fine. I read on another thread that this could be a strut mount or a bearing... is this correct and has anyone else had this problem?

I guess I posted in anger :banghead: , lol. The starting problem was a loose battery post. And the sproinggg sound is a seized bearing in the strut mount an apparently notorious problem with these j-bodies. I was told they can go as soon as 50K km from new.
Thanks anyways everyone.
