Polishing valve cover

I have a few questions for anyone that has polished their valve cover or knows anything about it. I have a 98 civic ex that didnt come with any vtec cover or anything so what I have is big metal thing that I want to make aestheticly pleasing. I saw a how-to on jdmfan about polishing it. They say to sand it, if I do so, how do I sand around the "H" and "HONDA" logos. also they say to take off the valve cover if you can. How would I do that, should I if I dont know much about engines? What is your best way of how I should go about this? Answers to any of these questions will be valued, thank you.

If you can use a wrench you can remove the valve cover. just be smart about it (don't lose bolts and get a gasket (if you need one)). As far as sanding around the lettering is concerneed just fold the sand paper and use the edge, or get a dremel. it is all pretty easy

OK, I went out today to get the supplies but there was a problem, the instructions that I'm usingsay to get; 600dry, 1000,1500,2000wet/dry, sandpaper. I went to home depot and lowes and the highest thing they had was 400 grit. Are my instructions wrong, where should I get the sandpaper. The instructions are on JDMfan.com, here (http://www.jdmfan.com/technical/cosmetic/polish_valvecover/)

I got my vavle cover sandblasted ....i suggest you try to do the same. Thats the best way to get it done nice and smooth and all the grooves.
