I30 Air Conditioner Compressor Nightmare

I have a 1996 Infiniti I30 that lost it's cold air. I took it to a Nissan dealer and they said it would cost around $900.00 to replace the compressor?! They said in1996, Nissan/Infiniti used a newly designed compressor for a quieter operation which obviously sacrifice longevity. I just sold my 1990 Maxima SE with 350K miles and the original AC cranked.

I'm looking for any suggestions on used compressors or alternatives? I live in the Seattle, WA.

they are bending you over, goto another dealership. Maybe an Infinti dealer (they'll treat you better).

BTW how did they determine if the compressor was faulty ?
