Park your truck and keep it running. Open the hood and turn the throttle linkage so that the engine revs slightly, if you don't know how to do that have someone sit in the drivers seat and slightly rev the engine while you try to pinpoint where the sound is coming from. The first thing that comes to mind is your air intake. Check that and see if there are any leeks anywhere.

Engine off, warmed up, check the fluid drive fan clutch on the water pump, spin it by hand should turn a blade or 2 freely, if very tight it is locked up hence wind like noise.

$200? that's a free fix. take it off, jam a crowbar through it, hollow it out, and put it back on. make sure you get everything out of it though, because if not pieces will break off and rattle around in there. did that on my 94 blazer when we still had emissions checks down here and it still passed. readings were higher than "ideal" but still well within specs. between that and the flowmaster exhaust everyone thought i had a 350 in it! not stupid loud, but had a nice deep rumble to it.

speaking of witch ive noticed a rattle in my exhaust.it only starts when i hit the gas kinda hard and at around 70.it sounds like someone is throwing rocks down the exhaust

any opinions would help......thanks
