If you got a new alternator then it sounds like a bad votage regulator (unless your's is built in). What kind of car is it?

Unfortunatelly I do not know your particular model. But it definetelly will affect your car's devices and/or equipement. Most auotmotive stores perform free testing of alternators and batteries.

Consult Haynes manual. This is my best friend!

Let us know what you find.

Why do you feel you have a problem? Is your battery going dead? Voltage out of the alternator will vary based on engine speed and also current draw as determined by the ELD, so I would expect some changes. The only thing that can be said for sure is that the alternator should put out about 14.5 volts when the engine is running above 2000 RPM and when the battery needs charging.
