me vs. pontiac

As i came back from work to my apartment tonight, looking for a place to park, i notice the pontiac sunfire sitting there with its lights on, i've seen this sunfire around a couple times and it even parks next to me sometimes, it had an exhaust with two tips slanting up, removed the sunfire emblem or pontiac emblem on the back, i'm not sure which one, i could see the word pontiac that lights up as he turns on the lights, and it had a big white strip across the top of its windshield, looks pretty clean, white on white. When i first saw it back in 05', i liked it, it wasn't bad looking, 2 door coupe. Anyways, I figure he was gonna go somewhere, so i slowly crept a couple cars back from him and waited there, i know that if i dont try to run him i may not have another chance, because my school is transferring my roommates and me to another location, another city. Sure enough he comes through the apartment doors and goes inside his car, i follow him closely making sure he notices me. We come to a first red light and i'm behind him, he takes a right and I made sure he heard my "2-stroke" exhaust, i came right up next to him, at this time there's traffic ahead so I get behind him again, we come to the next redlight. He takes a left on a 3 lane road and i come right next to him again, i wasn't sure if he was gonna go for it, but i went for it and went by him at wot, he took a left turn, damn, he waits at the light, i quickly do a u-turn and now i'm on the other side of the 3 lane road, he's sitting there at the lights, i gave him a quick look, i slowly made my way back to my apartment as i figured he doesn't want to run, he's probably going to work or something as he was gonna get on the highway. BUT NO! as i crept back to the apartment, he comes flying by making me look like i was standing still, oh now he wants to play. I quickly follow him and we come to another red light and there's no one around, but he wouldn't come to the line! he doesn't wanna race from a stop, ok i'm fine with that, i guess he knows his car. He's on the far lane making a u-turn to the road we just came from, i quickly back up and get on the same lane. Lights goes green, we took the left turn and i come right up next to him again, i'm sitting there in 2nd gear at about 30 mph which i should be in 1st, but its ok, I'm waiting for him to make the first move, but he doesn't do anything, ok, i guess i'm the guest of honor so i'll make the first move, so i did and i never saw his tail lights again, all i heard was his exhaust and i kept going untill i saw his headlights on my rear mirror. We came to the same stop as the first time i went wot and this time the lights were red, but then it quickly switched to green and we were still rolling about 10 mph, we were side by side and I got the first jump, his nose is at my back door, i could hear his car switching gears early, so i assume it's auto (my gears are pretty short) i switch to 2nd and pulls a little more, we slow down and he takes his left turn at the lights, trying to get on the highway, i did the same u-turn but this time i ran the red light, and came back he was still waiting for the lights to turn green, i tried to gave thumps up but i dont think he saw. It was fun, two runs and i still had him, not what i expected, but its k.

yeah, but somehow, everytime i'm in another car, i see cobra's and 05 mustang gt's and supra's and everything else you'd wanna race. when i'm in my car, i see ford contours and honda accords. couple pick up trucks, not even lightnings:banghead:

i cant find anything, i even went out looking for a race about 2 weeks ago, nothing!!

first, they teach this in highschool typing classes...

its called a PARAGRAPH you use the "Return" or "Enter" key to make this happen

second... my first gear ends at 42 at redline and i shift out at 35, if your gears are short why should you have been in first?

third... what the hell is a 2 stroke exhaust... a muffler is a muffler on a 'rolla

That's not really that short of gearing. Redlining first all the time is just asking for headaches. :nono:

Cold Air=Cold concrette and cold tires, cold concrette+cold tires=less traction on the launch. That and around here, becuase the scene, if you will, is so small, everyone has already raced everyone, so basically going out to race means standing in the fuck all MO cold and waiting for someone new to show up. That or picking on ricers in fart caned Civics and 'Rollas and shit on the loop, which, with the current police:racer ratio, is pretty much a fucking stupid idea.

Oh, and good kills, I guess. I dunno if he was really racing or not, but meh. There is a Sunfire or Cavy around here that has a body kit and wheels and a DTM exhaust (which, imho, is like putting Z3 fenders on anything but a Z3) but I can never get him to run. He'll launch, but let off as soon as he gets rolling.

yeh, 1st gear for me tops at about 30 mph @ redline, we were probably going slower now that i've looked at my speedometer again, i try not to shift at redline, but the car responds a lil better when shift at redline, and i only do it if i'm behind

YoungVR-4 if you have trouble finding people to race come to NZ. I can get a good race every week Friday and probably Saturdays too. If you are In Auckland you will be racing Godzilas, Prosche, Supra, Rx7 on a daily basis. Another thing, most of the ricers here actually drive powerfull cars.....lol even with all there stickers etc mostly evo's though.......(Not that the evo is a Ricer car)....and yea its mostly because they have rich parents....Man I wish I had that, I'm still paying for my baby......

My car has the shortest gearing known to homo sapiens, first gear is like 25, 2nd is 50, 3rd 70ish, 4th 110 5th 110

mine is about 30 in first, maybe 35... i dont know for sure tho cause i dont go around red lining all over the place. it tops 2nd at 60, 3rd at about 90

very funny red, no, i dont do it all the time, today was the first time this year i redline the car so i could see what mph it ends in 1st gear

Just be cautious when buying. They are 30+ year old cars after all. Rust is an issue no matter where they're located. And interior bits can be hard to track down for replacement.

Stock, they drive kinda crappy like... it takes a good amount of money to make a stock one fun to drive by todays standards.

the rust isn't too big of an issue on this one. The quarter panels and stuff have a little bit of surface rust but thats about it. The interior is in okay shape but what it really needs is to be cleaned up ALOT. I will prolly go test drive it after i get the transmission in the Mark VIII #1 changed out because it's slippin' a bit, and thats my daily driver so i don't need it breaking down right now the way gas prices keep going up it out of the question to drive my caddie

yeah, have a daily driver like that. Right now using the Relic as my every day is kinda a bitch. Its going to be below 30 tonight...which for many of you is nothing but im in CA...thats DAMN COLD here. No heater or defroster on my z. Also, I want to work on it but I cant because its my only workin ride right now.

But if you do get one they are a hell of alot of fun with a lil work. I got some suspension, and of course the motor swap. Hell, the stock motor was fun *till it just gave up*. Sounded badass, made me feel like I was in some awesome sports race in the 70s everywhere I went.

hell it's been in the 80s here in florida thats damn hot for this time of year. My dad had a 240 at one time when he was younger and what not and he said that was one of the best cars he's ever driven back in the day...I just really like the retro styling on it. It just looks sexy as hell...
