Tie Rods??

Not sure if this is the right forum but ya, i have a 2000 stang and my front tie rod is going i will soon have to have it replaced, does anyone know how much that runs?? will it cost me and arm and a leg or just an arm????

Well it will cost you the price of the tie rod + time/labor of the mechanic + an alignment. Might as well go ahead and replace both tie rods while your at it though. I will be cheaper in the long run. Also it is possible to count the threads & mark where the old tie rod was adjusted to ect, but that still wont save you from needing an alignment. That will just get you close enough to get to the alignment shop.

i have a warrenty on my alignment so that won't cost me anything but about that other stuff i'm looking at how much it cost me, if you know that, that is what i want to know!!!!

You will justy have to call a couple reputable shops and get an estimate.

I doubt that your alignment warranty will still be valid after you get the new tie rod(s) replaced. Most warranties only cover the original parts that were on the car when it was done and are void if any replacement parts have been put on the car since the original work was done. Sorry, just my experience with alignment warranties....

just an arm. lol. Tie rod end should be around 40 bucks each at the most.

I'd buy two personally, then get it aligned by a reputable shop. They may warranty the alignment if they install the tie rod ends, but if their install price may be more than the alignment price...

I'd just do it yourself, it's very easy especially if you have a chilton's manual to help you if you happen to get lost on it.
