Heating Control System

I have a 93 Lumina, heating control system has gone odd for lack of a better term. When I try to change the location of where the heating system is going it only will run to the floor and window, when I try to change speeds it will only run at high, no other settings work. I have checked fuses and connections and all seems to be in order. Anyone who can give feedback would be appreciated as I love this car. 3.4 Euro model. Btw, other question if anyone can answer it. The brakes on mine are funny as I have heard from a few others that this is normal for this car. Has anyone upgraded to some other types of Pad and Rotors and does it solve the problem. Generally when I am braking it yo can feel the resistance pulsing as the brakes are running.

Well Id take a solid guess that your resisitor has gone south... mine was the same way so replaced it(0n my 97 its up under the dash behind glovebox) and the window/floor prob sounds like a vacuum leak... trace the lines off the upper intake... there is a "T" connector that usually goes bad.... like mine did but also could be a crack in 1 of the lines also.... hope it helps... good luck:grinyes:

YEp, exactly as Myxlplyxxx said, the blower stuck on high is the blower resistor, and tbeing stuck on 1/2 defrost and 1/2 floor is a vacuum problem. The mode actuators are controlled by a vacuum solenoid under the dash near the glove box. When you set the switch to the various positions, it sends a signal to the solenoid to move the various motors/actuators. Some of the actuators are direct vacuum controlled, others are electrical and are sent an electrical signal from the vacuum solenoid.
