I have a 1998 malibu that is running rich. I have replaced the O2 sensor within the last four months due to a trouble code. I have had a "check engine" light on and had a local auto parts store scan the ecm. There was no code, only that banks one and two are rich. It is a 2.40 liter and I believe it may be a feul pressure regulator problem. I woul dlike to check the fuel pressure but do not know off hand what I need other than a pressure gauge. I was hoping to change the fuel filter and see if that helps the problem. I have over 135,000 miles on the car and need to keep it dependable for my sixteen year old. It is also stalling at traffic lights as if the torque converter is locking up. I am not looking forward to that job. If any one can assist me I would be thankful.

Well, what's the problem? It could be the coils.

Rich codes would not be caused by a plugged fuel filter. Is the car running at proper temperature?? Is the air filter plugged?? Is it burning oil?? Lots to check. Maybee get it to a mechanic before you burn out the catalytic converter...
