mercedes E300 1999 brake light

the upper brake light in the rear window is not working, is this an l.e.d. unit that has to replced totally, is it a fuse prob, is it one bulb out in series with the rest? thanx for any help :banghead: cheers ray

It is one bulb that can be replaced easily. But the E-class is notorious for overheating the whole 3rd brake light unit. If you put the bulb in and it works then good....if not, then check the contact areas for burn marks. If you find burn marks you'll need the whole unit.
