Aircon clicking sound

There is a constant clicking sound coming from behind the air vent on the front left side of the dash when the heating is set to "Auto". I can also hear an actuator going off constantly. The mechanic reckons he can see a control "rod" constantly twitching and that it will take 4 hours to strip down and take a look at whats going on. Anyone got any thoughts? The car was in for a full service and timing belt change a few weeks back and the problem has only occured since then. Could they be related?

you're relay pannel is on the left side behind the vents. I am pretty sure that there is a relay that is bad if one is constantly clicking. Remove the pannel on the side of the dash and feel the relays to find which one is clicking. remove it and get the number off the relay and call the vw dealer and see what its for.
I have seen this problem alot on the new jettas where the ac control module (ac controls in dash) is bad and has a mid of its own constantly trying to close a vent flap. If It only happens in the auto position its most likely the ac controls that are bad. But it could also be a comfort module.
