Replacement Torque Converter

I'm going to be helping a friend replace his 700r4 in his 88 1500 P/U. Do any of you guys know if there is a stock type replacement converter that has a higher stall. You know something say out of a Corvette, or like in my Impala SS the s-10 vortex converters fit. He works at O'riellys so he can get it a little cheaper. Any help would be appreciated.
