Hi, I have a 91 Civic and my dad had been driving it for awhile and now i have noticed a small pool of oil under the car just under the oil sump but the oil does not seem to be leaking from the engine its just on the bottom of the oil sump, there is also slightly too much oil in the engine, where could this oil be coming from?

can you use a different word other than sump? Do you mean the oil pan? If so check your drain plug.

A sump is a lower collection point, where a liquid will run to, so yes that would be the oil pan.

mine does this too. i just figured it's old age.
or a gasket.
or several gaskets... 16 year old gaskets...

it's been doing that since i got it (3 years) and i haven't done anything about it other than check my oil regularly (because i burn oil too) and change my oil regularly.

when i've got money (time, rather) for an overhaul and new gaskets, i'll get right on it.

Ok thanks, I dont really use it that much so i dont think it would get a chance for the oillevel to really get too low!
