Head Gaskets

So i put new head gaskets on a 85 chevy 350 boxtruck and i still get some white smoke not as much as befor with blow head gasket. No water out of the tail pipe anymore either I have ran 2 block flush and a case and half of oil thinking the was water in the oil still but i starting to wounder if it is a cracked head or block ANY IDEA OF WHAT TO DO OR ANYTHINK THANK YOU

take the heads to a machine shop, they old heads that you have are much better then the 906 castings of today, but its very possible to have a crack in a jacket or a warped head

I agree with a cracked head as being the likely problem. A good machine shop should be able to eithe use a dye penetrant or magnaflux to check your heads out.

Did it overheat before you took it apart? They can also check for flatness quite easily.

I asume the engine is back together now right?
I would have a repair shop run a chemical block check test on the engine coolant system and find out for sure if it is coolant getting in the exhaust or exhaust getting in the coolant.
Have you dove it long enough to clean out the exhust system?
Is the tail pipe smoke white or blue or smell real sweet like coolant?

Something to try, may fix it. Go to the dealer and get a package of the GM cooling system sealer tabs. About 4 bucks. This stuff was designed for the early Caddys with aluminum heads that were prone to leakage. Now GM uses this stuff for many different models as a factory and dealer additive. Worth a shot and it doesn't clog up anything.

Another good product is Solder Seal Block Saver. It might be hard to find, I've found it in older parts stores that do a lot of hard parts to engine shops. I use a can of it with every stock car engine that I rebuild, just to ward off evil spirits.
