I shall explain what I want to do via pictures:

This is what I bought:

Cliff Notes:
I want to take out my Engine Coolent Overflow tank and Windshield Washer fluid tank and replace them with 4th Gen style tanks.

To clean up the engine compartment...
That seems like an awful lot of work and mods just to make it look clean...ya know I always thought the best way to clean something was simply to clean it...I took this pic a couple days ago(at night)
I havent modified anything, but I think it looks clean(enough)...there is a little dust, but no grime. Ive been focusing on keeping the outside clean lately..lol
That is a cool looking mod, but is it really worth it? I personally dont think either of us have much to show off under the hood...

I do need to paint the area under the engine though...and I would like to clean up the intake manifold to...any solvants ya know of?

Thanks Genopsyde, I may try doing that this summer.
I thought yal might like to see what I think of as my favorite mod to date...
It only took me a few days to do and I get compliments on it all the time...

Looks great dont it? The tempo sits there quite nicely. It never falls down and there is no velcro holding it there or nothin'.

Yep, I went all out on that mod... In yo face cool!!!..lol

That pic was taken when I was working on a short that was blowing my gages fuse...all the hanging wires are from my alarm...what a mess that was, I took it out

Haha =/

Like I sad above the pic of my engine, thats before I got all that tar (or whatever that black shit is) off from under my hood.

Oh, and I may not have anything to show under my hood now, but I need something to do while I wait for summer to start building my 350 :)

/edit: malletslinger, under your hood looks nice and all, but the engine overflow bottle and probably the washer fluid bottle look horrible. Mine have a similar dirty / yellow tint to them, so thats why I want to do this. And its not alot of work, it goes under the front tray, bolts in (might have to trim slightly), and cut a circular hole in the tray, and im done.

Hay now...when it comes right down to it, you still have more to show under the hood than I do...I only have the 2.8:crying:
My bottles actually look really good...a few weeks ago when I was painting my battery tray, I removed the overflow bottle and cleaned the inside using clean water and a tooth brush(I had to tape two together to be able too reach deep enough and to make it bend to get all the curves) then I used 409 and the clean side of a spunge to scrub the outside of both tanks...the pic doesnt do that bottle justice, it almost looks new(you can buy new ones aftermarket for cheap). My washer bottle looks nearly as good(didnt clean the inside:))
Don't get me wrong, yours engine compartment will look much better than mine with the bottles hidden(if your paint in there is still nice) but I like to see exactly how much I have in my tanks as soon as I open the hood...Also, I may be a little jealous because I don't think I could do that(if I wanted to) because my intake uses the space where the bottles would go...

Thats right, the only Camaro that can do this mod is one with a carb / tbi because of the intake. Now in your case, you can still do the engine overflow bottle (I noticed I didnt post a picture of it, Ill get one) because it goes under the battery on the passenger side (might require locating for a V6), and that will remove one of the bottles. I've also seen people use a combo box where the washer fluid and engine overflow are in the same box (obviously seperated) and that cleans under the hood up nicely as well.

I planned on doing it next week since that's my spring break, BUT I'm waiting on a TA girdle from a friend.. thats not big deal, however my tuner's new hardware being lost in the mail may effect when I install it, since ill not only have the speedometer off but my WOT shift point will be off as well

Now in your case, you can still do the engine overflow bottle because it goes under the battery on the passenger side, and that will remove one of the bottles.
Id like to see what it looks like, but I probably wont do it unless I do an engine swap, because I would want to repaint the engine compartment...there are rub spots under the overflow bottle, and if there aint going to be something covering them up, then I would want them to match...which would require me to pull the engine and paint, and Im not pulling the engine unless its for good:wink:
