Hi there, we were going down the expressway in my van and it died...we put gas in it, still wouldnt start, towed it home....
Changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ignition module, coil, fuel pressure regulator, and timing chain... a few months ago, we changed the fuel pump also... when we pulled the harmonic balancer off, the oil had a lot of gas in it, so I am sure it is getting fuel... it still won't start.... :banghead: any suggestions?????

Sorry about that... It is a 1993 GMC Safair. It has a 4.3 Vortec CPI. Thanks.

Fuel should not be in the oil. If it is, it's an indication of an extremely rich fuel mixture and could very well be why the engine will not start and run. Check the fuel pressure: while the guage is connected, turn the ignition switch to the "RUN" position until the fuel pump stops running, (should be about 3 seconds) then turn the key to the "OFF" position. The fuel pressure shoud hold steady. If it drops, Iwould suspect either the regulator or the cpi unit is leaking. The upper plenum needs to be removed to repair either one. Post back your results.
