1000hp fuel setup. (56k WARN)

So my fuel setup is about complete... -10AN from the fuel cell to the A1000 fuel pump. Then -10AN from the pump to the engine bay into the aeromotive high flow 100 micron fuel filter. Then from the fuel filter, -10AN to the rail and back to the A1000 FPR. -6AN from the FPR back to the fuel cell for the return. I am using PTE 1600cc fuel injectors and I will be running 119 octane gas at all times.
I have about $650 into the whole setup. I got a very good deal on the pump, cell, 17ft of -10AN line and the fuel filter for $350. The pump and filter are worth that alone. Everything is brand new.
Here is a pic of the parts...

And some pictures of the install. The A1000 FPR is on its way.

Just curious, is that a stock fuel rail????

I would think with that much into the fuel system you would get a high volume fuel rail to complete it. Looks good though, I'm assuming its a track only car, what do you plan on hitting for numbers?

Yes it is... It is plenty big. I tapped it out to 3/8" NPT (which is a little over 5/8" standard size or 16mm) and it is about 9/16" in diameter inside so it will be able to flow plenty of fuel.

If you say so, I dont know much about that I guess, what are you planing for the rest of your setup?

The car is going to be mainly for the track but I will still drive it on the street. I'm running a PTE T67 and I have a 150 shot direct port NX setup that I might throw on the car once I reach the numbers I'm shooting for.
A friend made 694AWHP on the same turbo but was running out of fuel. I'm shooting for 700. Once I hit that number I'm going to race the car to see what times I can achieve. I would like to see close to a 140 trap. That would get me close to a nice mid 10 second run with good driving. If I get that before summer I'm going to put the nitrous on and go for a 9. There are a couple people running the same turbo hitting mid 9s with nitrous and high 9s without so I think it's possible.
The car is getting a 10pt cage good to 9.99 so that will be plenty good for my goals. If I get kicked off the track for not having a 12pt cage I will be happy as hell. All I want is a single digit this year. Whether it is a 9.99 or faster, that is my goal.
I have to go run some errands... I'll explain more later.

Sweet turbo choice :D
If this car is going to see much street use I would think the 6an return would be too small to get fuel pressure in line, but for WOT use that's a nice proven setup to go with. I had fuel capacity issues when I was running the T67, it really does pay to go too big when you get to this level.
According to my math, the A1000 at 35 psi boost (assuming 43 psi base) anda traget AFR of 12:1 and using race gas with a specific gravity of .724 (sunoco 117) that setup is good for 84 lbs/min, or about 10 pounds more than a T67 will do at full tilt. Works out nicely. :)

How close does that sit to the drive shaft? Looks really close from that picture. But really nice setup so far.I see you probably did not do much to the cr before all this and ebgine pull. Still had stock exhaust on it lol

Ok, I dont mean to be an ignorant dumbass, but which one is the filter and which one is the regulator? Where is the regulator on a car with the stock fuel system?
kjewer1
03-07-2006, 12:43 AM
The filter can be seen sitting on top of the cell in the first pic, and installed in the second pic. I don't see his reg in the pics. The reg on the stock DSMs is on the drivers side end of the fuel rail, attached directly to it.

Yeah I had to order the regulator... Should be here by the end of the week. Hopefully the car will be running this weekend! Going to be wierd to have to open my hatch to fill up on gas. Although I am only going to run 119 octane, it wont see much street use. At $11 a gallon, it will get expensive!

The pump is about 2" away from the driveshaft. Plenty of room. There is no way the driveshaft will move up or down right there unless something breaks. It was the only flat area I could find under there that actually looked like a decent place to mount it!
Everything is pretty much the way it is going to be when I race it. Except for the roll cage, everything is done. I will probably keep the stock exhaust on it for now, due to street use and driving back and fourth to the dyno. I will be running a 5" exhaust off the turbo directly out the drivers side in front of the front tire. I want it to be as free flowing as possible. Then when I want to drive it on the street I can just re-attach the stock exhaust or my custom 3" I have for it and not have to worry about noise.
As for the fuel filter... Like Kevin said, it is in the 2nd pic and it has "FLOW --->" marked on it.

Shit, 117 was 9.50 last year up from 8.25 the year before. I hope it didn't go up again! I only use ~1 gallon per trip to the track, but it still adds up somehow...

Yeah... I might end up putting in 93 or so, maybe 105 or 110 that is a little cheaper for driving to and from the track. I dont really want to trailer it but I might be forced to. Its more impressive to drive to the track, run a 10 then drive home and thats how I want it done. Its so easy to drain the tank now that I wouldnt mind putting in 93 or so just to get me to and from the track, then using 119 when I get there.

The wiring wasnt that bad. I got it done in about 8hrs. The thing that killed me was I hadnt slept in 2 days so I sat and stared at the wires for a good 1.5-2hrs trying to figure out how I was going to do it. After I got going it was smooth sailing.
The cage gets here next week and I'm picking up some new seats this weekend. Cant wait to get to the dyno!

The car will start tomorrow. Pressurized the fuel system tonight, everything is wired except my coil on plug setup I have to finish then adjust fuel settings in DSMLink for the 1600cc injectors and start it up.
The exhaust was a pain in the ass to weld up. Not much room from the turbine housing to the alternator or oil filter. I made it fit nicely thought. I'll get some more pictures of it tomorrow.

The car never came with AC when I picked it up. It was already removed, kinda nice, I didnt have to deal with it.
I was planning on making the car pretty much drag only, then I started thinking about driving it on the street. The car was going to get a sheet metal dash but I figured it would look shitty. So I decided to make my own gauge cluster and put it where the stock one is. Then since I planned on driving it on the street, I still wanted a speedo. So I looked into ordering aftermarket gauges but decided against it because I've never seen the gauge cluster moved before either. So I put it where the air back was. Everything is still funtional, it lights up, blinker signal, tach and speedo, the whole thing works flawless.
Now its just easier to scare the passenger if I decide to do a pull on the highway or a back road. When they see the speedo wind to 140-145ish well less than 1/2 a mile, its classic to watch them get nervous. :D
