636?

Hey all sorry if i sound newbish but I just had one question. My freind has a kawasaki 636, I had what i like to call a 500 mix breed. I sold it and im wanting something a little bigger and faster. I wanted a 636 like my freinds because it seems about the right size and everything, but the guy at the kawasaki shop said they dont sell those anymore. So i was jsut wondering what was about eaqual to the size and speed of the 636. Thanks guys.

The 600RR, R6, GSXR600, and ZX-6RR are all comparable bikes to the 636. I don't know anything about the 636 not being available for '06, but assuming that's true, you can easily find one used, which I strongly recommend regardless of what bike you buy. Japanese sportbikes don't hold value well, which means you can find flawless examples for much less money than dealerships charge.

Depending on the type of riding you plan to do, you may also look into the more street oriented model sportbikes such as the 650R, SV650, YZF600, etc. They typically have more linear and usable power delivery, and are much more comfortable and forgiving to ride. The 650R and SV650 are twins, which I believe make much better streetbikes than I-4's.

i don't know what's up with your Kawasaki dealership but they definitely still make the 636(ZX6R).

ok heres what I have found out so far. I called my friend that works at the suzuki shop and he told me that that guy I talked to was a stupid @$$ and taht they did sell 636's. So anyway i went to test drive it and it handles pretty good, kinda shakey around tight corners though. I also test drove a suzuki gsxr600 and its pretty nice too, no shaking around the corners but it doesnt have that get-up-and-go feel that the 636 has. i was just wondering wich one do you all prefer. When properly setup they are all very similar in terms of capability. Stock suspension settings are set using the standard Japanese rider model, which is ~150lbs if I remember correctly. In addition to sag being wrong for most riders, stock compression and rebound settings are usually completely out of whack for performance riding. Once these issues are addressed, all of them handle extremely well. The only thing I've heard about the 636 once properly set up in comparison to the other bikes is that it's a bit slower to turn in than the other 600's. The bottom line is performance wise they're all of a capability that it just doesn't matter what bike you're on.
