I have purchased a D16A6 (Si) motor and am wanting your $.02 on some info. I'm gonna be changing most of the external gaskets including the head gasket. My question is, what is the stock head gasket thickness? If I change to a different size, what size should I go with. Here are the considerations, no turbo, 50 shot NOS (wet, but not yet, damn I rhymed!!). So, with different size head gasket, what will compression be? Will this affect the ability of the motor to handle NOS. Obviously it would be worth keeping stock compression and 50 shot NOS instead of no NOS and higher compression, right? Also, with higher compression, should a cooler thermostat be used or any cooling mods be made? I know this is a lot of info but if I'm gonna work on this motor, while it's on the stand I wanna do things right. Oh, this will be a daily driver with interstate time everyday at about 70 mph and the usual around town trips. So, keep that in mind. Any additional info is welcome, suggestions and criticisms (other than the motor choice, GOOD price). I don't know if it matters but I plan on a decent street/strip cam, underdrive crank pulley also. I want suggestions on mods I should consider. I think you get the point. Thanks in advance.
