I finally picked my car up today from VT. I basically have a new driver side. The shop it was at was full of douchebags though. My boost gauge and A/F gauge are completely unhooked and I've been informed that I have a crankshaft oil leak but it's back in my driveway. I think I have a HUGE boost leak also but that is too be confirmed. I'm so happy regardless. I think I'm going to bring it home in May and, depending on the results of a compression test, rebuild the engine and do some more stuff. I have a new plan for the car which I'm pretty psyched about. If I was in better mental shape right now I'd tell you all about it but I'm totally psyched right now. Just needed to share!

I'm running a vac of 13 currently and my boost gauge is F*&@ed up. I'm just so pumped I have it back that I really don't car at this point. I was supposed to pick it up last weekend but that was "magically" a giant hole in the radiator after they replaced the radiator support. I'll work it out over the next few days.

Now that I'm in better form, I'll tell you guys the story.

I went up to VT last weekend to pick up my car. They had it for roughly two months at this point and I had called them numerous times right before going to ensure that everything was done. When I get there, I look around the car and there is definitely some weird stuff going on. Near the area where the back bumper meets the back quarterpanel, there is still scrapes and paint missing and the rearview mirror was in the back seat. I'm a little weirded out that they would send me on my way without a rearview. I get in the car and drive it about 300 ft and the temp gauge shoots to the top. I was with some other people and they said the vapor was BILLOWING out of my exhaust. Keep in mind that the outside temp was in the teens. I pull over and check under the hood and there is a nice trickling stream of radiator fluid coming out the top of the radiator.

I bring the car back and start going through everything with a fine tooth comb. I should have done this to start but stupid me was so excited to take the car home, I just paid and left. I noticed there was red spray paint on the driver side window and on the driver side rearview. The window doesn't even mate to the moulding (they replaced the driver side windows after the breakin). My boost gauge reads 13 vac. It used to read 19 vac so I'm assuming there is a boost leak now. The mitsu emblem wasn't on the front (a minor thing but c'mon, where is the attention to detail?).

I show my overheating problem to the service manager. He tries just adding some coolant and telling me everything will be fine. I call him a jackass. He take the car for a quick spin. Before it gets out of the dealership, it's overheating (like gauge pinnned at the top). He comes back and tries telling me that they can put some tape on it and it *might* make it back to Boston. I, again, call him a jackass. I tell him that I want to pressure test the radiator to see how bad the problem is. He then decides to tell me that I need a new radiator. I go off the handle.

I get mad at him because he's had the car for two months and didn't even bother to test drive it after doing all the work they did. I blame the radiator on him (their shop replaced the radiator support bracket). He tries telling me that it was like that before I brought it in. I again go off the handle. I inform him that I drove the car 45 miles to get to their shop and I would have noticed immediately if the temp gauge was out of control. I was checking my gauges extensively after the accident for that very reason.

I showed him all of the other things that were wrong with the car and he offered to fix all of them for nothing (damn right) and give me free labor on changing out the radiator but I had to pay for the radiator itself ($284). They also rented me a car for the week (an 06 Dodge Durango which was pretty sweet).

Fast forward to yesterday...

I get there and begin testing everything. My front foglight is out, so they immediately replace the bulb (whoops...didn't notice that one). My boost gauge and AF gauge now don't work at all. I ask if they fixed the boost leak and they feigned ignorance. I inform them that my boost gauge no longer works and they tell me it was broken after the breakin. I called them a bunch of jackasses. I tried fighting and they basically told me they could do nothing for me. Wounded and broken, I just take the car and go home. I figure I can fix the boost leak myself. I'm going to get some new gauges and just eat the cost.

It was a crappy experience overall, but I have the car back. As I was leaving, they mentioned my front crankshaft seal was leaking, so I also have to deal with that. I'm going to take my car to FL in May and fix everything up.

That they are, but way to much money. I think banks wants like $15000 for one that is unpolished(atleast that is what i heard). I think they put out around 1200HP on pump gas. But they are a sexy set up.

My uncle has this suprisingly light all metal 1937 chevy 5 window coupe. I want that car so damn bad its not even funny. I thought a FI TT v-8 would be sweet as hell in it.

Mine too, I think people should still solve problems the old fashioned way... with a good round of throw down. Or they can just suck it up and stop being so damn materialistic. I have seen people go to court over stuff worth X amount of dollars and end up with like 3 times that in lawyer fees. Its bullshit.

Sorry to hear about your sucky shop experience. Just another reason for me not to take mine somewhere, they start fucking around with stuff they shouldnt. If one of my cars ever hits a shop, especially the DSM, I will be there right along side the mechanics to make sure they dont fuck anything up. I guess you know where not to go and where not to recommend now though.

Can you actually watch them work on your car?

Yeah, no kidding. In hindsight, I would have definitely done it differently. It just seemed so much easier to leave it and have one shop take care of all the work. Oh well. Definitely a case where "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply. I spent $4400 on my DSM and just cut a check for $5250 in repairs + crappy experience...:(
