I have 89 civic witht the D15 in it, now my dad took it out the other day and the top tank of the radiator blew apart which meant all the water was lost but my dad didnt relise this and kept driveing and it got pretty hot , as in hit the red!!!!! which aint good at all as it never goes over a quater up the temp gauge.
I know the head gasket is gone how easy is it to replace it?
And what tools do i need?
Also could there b any another damage that i mightent b able to pick my self, eg wapped head, wapped cyilender head?
:(

It's not hard it's just like 8 hours of work each way or something.

when i blew my headgasket. My block and head were warped. I had my friend ( whos been a mechanic for 15 years) check it out. The DX engine is all alumminum so it warps pretty easily when overheated. I'd suggest taking it to a mechanic you can trust and having him (or her) check it out unless you know know how to check for it.

aluminum parts crack very easily. make sure that it didnt crack your head or block which it may have. My advice is dont let people who cant tell when a car is getting hot, drive your car
