Lincoln LS lowering springs...

if any one has lowerd their LS, can u please tell me what u think. Is it that much of a rougher ride? Is the tire going to rub the fender wells? Is it going to bounce up and down alot when go over bumps? Any help would be greatly appreciated... THANKS

It all depends on how low you want to lower your LS. There are several different brands of lowering springs like Eibach, Intrax and Springtech. Lowering ranges from 1" to 1.75". I have the Eibach springs on my LS and is lowered 1" all the way around. I initially had my stock 17" wheels and tires on when it was first lowered and it never rubbed inside the fenderwell. The ride was quite controlled and not harsh. It made the car handle much better after being lowered.

I upgraded to 18" wheels with 245/45-18 tires and I get an occasional rub inside the fender wheel on severe dips but nothing too alarming. I plan to swith to 245/40-18 tires once I'm ready to replace the old ones. This should eliminate all rubbing since the diameter of the tires are a little smaller.

I'm running Springtech with the factory 17" wheels, but 245/45-17 tires. The car is LOW. I can't drive through most automatic car washes and I hit every parking block if I pull up too far. Occasionally, when opening the doors, I even smack the lower edge on taller curbs. The ride is very firm. I compare it (the ride) to the mid 80's Corvettes. I don't get any rubbing, but I don bottom out once in a while and have to be VERY careful driving over speed bumps and gas-station "man-hole" covers.

Not for everyone, but I love them. Gives the car a great stance.

I run InTrax Pro-Sport - dropped the car about 2" on al corners.

The car definately handles better.

With the body kit I am less than 4" off the ground - so I do have to watch sharp angles.

That one is better. I'd love to get a hold of one of those calendars! Lou emailed me his picture that was in the calendar. I bet it's nice!

Tony did all the work. They are pretty decent for a 75 piece run with a price cap. I think they were around $20 each and we sold them all. I've got mine haging in my cube a work. Brian's is on the cover and the One Lap car is in there, too. We are doing another this year. Submissions are open until October.

Ok, I went with the Eibach Springs 1" in the front and 1.1" in the back for the 05' LSE with the stock 17" rims. The ride quality is exactly as smooth as it was when it was stock. It doesn't rub at all when the wheel is fully turned. It gave it a really, really nice lower stance. and cornering is deffinetly improved.. I was so happy to notice that the car rides just like it was stock... just gotta be carefull going up and down entances to driveways etc. obviously.. I dont know the quality of any other company, but I dont think it can get any better than the Eibach system. Highly recommended.... Ill put up some pictures soon.
