Recientally i noticed that when driving a car i am able to know the exact dimensions of the car and be able drive it within inches of stuff and not worry about hitting it. but with a truck i am not able to do this and i cannot gauge any sort of dimensions of the truck, and have a hard time driving it. Anyone else have this expirence?

How is this a comparison between two or more cars?

I'm better with trucks than I am with cars. With the trucks I drive I can see the end of the hood and the corners of the bed so I know for sure where everything is. With cars I can't tell where much is, but they are smaller which makes them a hell of a lot easier to manuever around tight spaces.

i know what you mean im the same way when im driving my zx2 compared to my cougar. my zx2 i can easily tell you where i can and cannot get into, and parrallel parking aint too bad... but i get into my cougar.... thats when i have a hard time... mostly cuz the ass end is in the air, and i gotta use my mirrors cuz all ill see are roofs of the cars behind me.... and there are times the car totally disappears behind my cougar and i still got a good 3 feet.

i have no problem driving my SUV.
however i do have some trouble, with parking mainly, when i drive my sis's car, or my parent's SUV. i find myself constantly guessing and asking myself; can i make it, will i hit it, or should i back up more?
i would have to say, i know the turning radius and physical dimensions of my vehical pretty well, even it's ground clearance (i drive over alot of shit - curbs, branches, concrete parking barriers, etc.).
even when i'm downtown i am more comfortable driving my SUV, even though its slightly bigger, instead of driving anyone elses car. in some cases i even have to fold my mirrors in to get by, but in the end i always manage and never recieve any damage.
i suppose if its just a matter of getting use to your car; finding its capabilities and understanding its limitations.

You'd posted in the Car Comparisons thread whereas this isnt really a comparison. So i moved it to "Cars we drive"
