Problem with Remote opening passenger/back doors

2001.5 GLS - both remotes will not open the passenger/back doors. I click once, the driver's side opens; click a second time (and 3rd/4th/5th), and the driver's side clicks again, but the other doors don't unlock. Remote locks all doors fine. It would seem to me the both remote batteries wouldn't go bad at the same time; and the car seems to react to the remote - but it won't open doors.

Another potentially key note - we had the car battery die (almost) this morning (believe we left a light on). Jump started to get running again, and no problems with that. Now we notice the problem with the remote.

Any help is appreciated.

You may be experiencing a problem with the comfort module. If your battery is going dead, the comfort module may be the problem too. I had a similar problem with my 2000 Passat. One of my remote keys would work but the valet key would not always work. The dealer told me it was the comfort module and they wanted $1150.00 to make the repair. I later found that the problem was with the trunk lock turned to the open position. This allowed the micro-switch to confuse the comfort module and run the car battery dead. If I were you, I would check to make sure all the locks are turned correctly. My valet key works fine and my battery drain has stopped.

For anyone who is interested - the car battery was replaced and the remotes are unlocking all of the doors again.
