AF Premium Membership brings you the following benefits:

-Special Stars under your username.
-Different user title distinguishing you as a premium member.
-Faster loading pages.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY:

No More Ads when viewing AutomotiveForums.com!

This program was in beta with the fellow AF moderators and here is what some had to say.

"It runs soooo much faster. I haven't had any lag trying to get to a forum at all since I switched it over."

"I reckon the Ad free AF is awesome, in fact I'm going to start moderating just to show my gratitude "

"I'm Lovin This Premium Style ****!! Pardon My English..."

"Ad free AF rocks"

Click here to become an AF Premium Member (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/payments.php)

=========================

We will continue to develop the program to bring the premium members further benefits.

For current premium members, the ad-free AF skin is available by scrolling down to the bottom of any screen and selecting the "Premium Style" from the drop-down on the bottom left corner.

$50/yr for a theme, no ads, and quicker load?

is that a joke?

igor@af
03-04-2006, 04:23 PM
This is just offered as an option for those members that wish to use AF without the ads. What is the problem with having options?

Furthermore, I get emails from members all the time how AF has saved them money and or time with the information and resources available here. This is a way that a satisfied member can support the website and get a little extra by doing so.

Finally, this option in itself has been requested by many.

If you can't afford $50/year then clearly this option is not for you. AutomotiveForums.com has been and will be available for aboslutely free.

why not just ask for donations? And a space on the car? What does that mean? I love AF and once I get this new job, then donating to further the cause of the car would definitely be in order, even that + $500, but idk about this whole premium member. sounds as bad as the time we tried adding point or stars to our names for great posts or w/e. What a catastrophe that was.

I can see it now...n00bs will be so small, we don't care. It's the battle of the premiums and everyone else. Also, who has asked? 56ker's??? If they had that kinda money, they wouldn't ask because they'd have cable/DSL/broadband/whatever.

If I'm going to get extra, don't make the little area beside my post prettier with stars, a premium member logo, and no ads. ADs are how i find stuff! Give me a decal, license plate frame, mug, mousepad. Something i can physically see and have. Something useful to put blatantly.

Like I said, I love AF. been here over 4 years and I'll be happy to donate, especially if that'll get me in good to fly where ever ya'll be so I grab some photos (my new job will be witha production studio) but idk. Just seems...iffy, ya know Igor?

EDIT: NOw if that space is an AD on the car, then I'll get right to it with my new boss. I'd understand that the +$500 is for people with a business or something, but ok. yeah...that part makes sense now. ish. it's just that it is tied in with trying to appeal to teh common folk and common folk are poor. we complain about it all the time. Except the mutt with his fancy car, w/e he has at the time. :p

driftinggrifter2
03-04-2006, 04:42 PM
To me that more or less is asking for a donation it's just that they are giving a little something more for you doing it. I been here for a quick minute but couldn't find a donation site so this is how i did it.
You can look at it however you want: They are trying to sell you a little for a lot
or your donating and getting a small gift in return.
Not trying to start with ya or nothing it's just more than one way to look at it.

Damien

^duh

but looking at it is what makes it...it. I'm an english major. i know the whole interpret scene. Just, instead of me having pretty stars, can I have a decal? Advertise AF even more? For a month I get this, 'cause all one can afford is amonth or too, then it's over? That's what I'm getting at. At least a keychain. I know that if AF had a shop again, everyone would get something and probably major things.

come on guys give igor some credit. hes doin his best to make af a better place... personnally i like where i sit. its good enough for me to be able to talk with others... yet the load times do piss me off every now and then. but i like the thought of shirts... well af stuff in general. be it witty, sarcastic, or serious. i think that would be cool to have a hat with the blue skyline on the front and "may cause depenceny" on the back. or you could do stickers or posters. just something cool that might also get the af name out there. hell ive seen guys wearing cavedog entertainment shirts, and blizzard shirts, and how many people own a car hat (be it nascar, or the chevy , or dodge, or ford symbols on them). ild buy... at least the hat.

KustmAce
03-04-2006, 09:26 PM
Its not just pop-up ads guys, its ALL ads. No ads even at the top of the pages. When I get a chance, Ill get a screen shot of my page.

But honestly, quit belittling the prices and what not. If you dont like it, dont do it, very simple. But I for one love the Premium status. It actually is faster, and having no ads is nice too. Also a great way to support AF.

So there is my plug, carry on:)

Not that I'm worried about it but what happens to a premium member if he/she gets banned? Do you get a refund? How will it work?

Although I have high regard and respect for most of the respective Forum Moderators and Global Moderators I have worked with on AF some seem to have their own agenda and it has nothing to do with enforcing AF rules so you can never be sure.

An answer will be appreciated. Thanks.

Monetary decision. Then based on your feedback, it doesn't make sense to get a long term membership on this type of forum. So, I guess I'll stick with month to month.

BTW - There have been people banned on AF and it had nothing to do with breaking forum rules.

absolutely nothing, I was just voicing my opinion that there is no reason for people to be complaining. AF is still free for those who choose not to pay. Now if it was becoming a mandatory pay site, well then ok bitch and moan, but its not. So like I said there is no reason to complain. I've been here for years and have seen people ask time and time again to have a membership fee to get rid of ads etc. Now igor has done it. Good for him.

Since you asked me now I'm asking you what gives you the right to insult me?

i agree igor made this optional, if you want to then do, if not dont. there should be no war over those that want to or not. if you like where you sit. then dont move. but if you want to try... then give it a go. i might just try to see if i like it... if i dont then i wont stick with it. this is like getting air conditioning in your car, and some complain that its to expensive of an upgrade for what you get... personnally i can live with the windows down, but i can also live with the pirk of ac.
