Here's a picture of the original car from the '64 USAC season and what most most consider the world's greates stock car racer, Curtis Turner. Turner waw banned from NASCAR in '61 for trying to organize the driver into the Teamster's Union in a effort to raise funds for cost over runs during the construction of Charlotte Motor Speedway. To pass the time he ran several other sanctions and events including the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. The color shot is of my model of Turner's '64 ride.

Cool old Nastycar, Luke. I enjoy seeing your builds and have to look close to make sure you're not pulling a fast one and posting a real car. NASCAR is not my cup of tea, but there is a tie-in with these cars racing in other series. This one is an example. I think one was raced in England and won the touring car series there in the mid 60's. Maybe you Brits can confirm or prove me wrong on that. I do have a question - do you make your own decals, or do you manage to find them in the aftermarkets?

I've got a story on that Galaxie you mentioned if it's a '63. It was built by Holman and Moody and was featured in an article in Classic Cars magazine a while back. My friend Lee Holman (son of John Holman, of Holman Moody fame) drove that thing, in race trim, from the shop at HM to Wilmington or what ever port they shipped to England from, open headers and all. He said he had a whole new respect for the bootleggers by the time he signed that puppy over to the shippers at the dock. LOL

I use decal when I can get them (like the #26) but hand letter when I have to (like lthis #29), I strarted doing the hand lettering years ago when I started doing the local dirt cars.
