j/k. i've just started getting out of my "honda's will always be slow" phase and i was thinking of something, i'm not actually gonna do it since i don't have a civic but i had an idea about having a civic run single digits without an engine swap or forced induction just all motor. Most my friends think i'm fuckin crazy but when i have an idea i like to prove that it can happen. what would you do to the motor? (start off with a k20a3 si)

thats a hard goal ive seen a all-motor civic completely stripped and pretty much fully modded and it was in 10s...forgot which motor though im not too sure about the full potential of k20s...basically youll have to strip it completely and build the hell out of the motor and probably spray while your at it if you want single digits

can't happen, nitrous counts as forced induction

all motor? its probably going to cost a ton. plus no traction.

BTW - number 8 on your list is great. I'd want two shots at Walker, for that whole Yenko vs. Lancer bullshit scene in part 2.

Skunk2 has an all motor RSX running mid 9s. I think it lays down about 300whp

Beat me to it. The Skunk RSX has a K24 hybrid setup, running pretty high compression numbers. They do run in the nines as well.

plus no traction Thats why turbo cars making double the horsepower only run comparative times? Why do you think the skunk 2 car is in the 9's with ONLY ~ 300 whp? turbo cars make much much more power but they have no traction. Ive seen N/a hondas go faster on street tires than ive seen boosted ones go on slicks. FYI it is doable, but will cost an arm and a leg.

Yep, Skunk2 is probably the only company that is consistent in the 9's and they have a million dollar budget.

does spoon make build high horsepower engines that are all motor or are they FI too?

Spoon makes all motor engines, however I've never seen those ones for sale. The ones Spoon does sell are just rebuilt Honda engines that are balanced and blueprinted by Spoon, with a slightly thinner head gasket (2-ply). They don't come with cams, or higher compression pistons, etc; just an overpriced stock engine.
And Skunk2's engine isn't a k20a3 from the '01-? Si, it's a better engine to start off with. It's like someone comparing a built all motor b16a2 to a built all motor b18c5; there's a big difference in power output available. It'd be easier to squeeze the power out of the b18c5 to get to 9's than with a b16a2. Not all K-series are created equal people.
