3000gt vs 3000gt

Alright, yesterday I was driving to my grandparents (about 45 miles) at around 4:30 or so. I see a red car up ahead that looks like a 3000gt possibly. So I speed up about 5mph until I realize it is. He had a newer 3kgt and I pulled up next to him. I look over and I can't help but grin since I'm probably going to race my own type of car and he does like wise. As soon as I looked forward agian he had alread punched it. Luckily I was in second (auto) already so I didn't have to waste anytime waiting for a downshift if he took off. I pulled even with him and then past him slowly but steady. I don't know how fast he was going but I shut down at 100 and he was a good car and a half back. I knew from the beginning it wasn't a VR4 so I'm guessing it was the SOHC. I don't know why but that was the funnest race I'd ever had. (by the way I have a first generation sl)

Yup, sounds like an SOHC to me. And I should know. I have one!
Time to go pray to the car gods for a VR4.

wouldn't have you pulled harder on a sohc? We're talking about a 60HP difference here...

To be honest, I dont know. He hit it first and my front fender was about even with his rear quarter panel. Who knows he he may have had mods. He had some stickers on his rear side window (I didnt see what they said) so he may or may not have had something done with his car. Or mabye they were just ricer stickers, I dont know.
edit: we also started at about 65 so I only went 35 mph faster than I started.

not necessarily, he's auto, which robs more power on the NAs then most realize.
Nice race.
Off topic, but could you consider resizing the picture in your sig somewhat smaller. It is so wide, it doesn't fit on the screen. So every thread you post in, forces everyone to scroll left and right.

Yeah, I'll try and resize it. We just got a new computer and a 19" LCD monitor so it doesn't make me scroll right to left. So I didn't even know.
