97 civic EX tranny Question

i just clicked 100k on my car and was wondering if there is any way to service the tranny.. is there a way i can changet the filter or is it sealed and all i can do is change the fluid?

you can change the filter, it should be only be some bolts to remove to get access to the filter.

if it is a manual trans. you can't change the filter. it is a sealed type gear box, all you can do is change the fluid. if it is an auto you can change the filter. My mechanic says there is no need to service the trans, because what causes the fluid to degrade is contamination so unless you have some way for dirt to get into your tranny don't worry. i've got 130,000 on my manual and it is doin great.

mine is an auto and i feel that it jerks sometimes when it downshifts to 1st like when stuck in traffic.. but other than that it changes flawlessly when accelerating. but i wanted to be safe than sorry you know.. make sure everything is in tip top condition.

downshifting in auto's is always a lil harsh, that is just normal condition.
