Have a 1999 blazer s10.....with 128,000 miles
How can you tell if the Catalytic Converter is going bad????

First sign is a lack of power especially when hot. The more you press on the gas pedal, the worse it is. But, other things can cause the same loss of power. The easiest way to test the converter is to loosen the exhaust pipes at the exhaust manifold and take it for a short drive. If the power returns, the converter is clogged.

your #1 o2 sensore should also throw a code.

Not sure if this is true but I recall someone telling me a while back that it would smell bad too? Do not know why it would smell bad but he swore up and down that if the cat was bad the exhaust would stink like something rotten. He might have been pulling my leg though.

Constant smell of rotton eggs.
Rattling from the cat.
Can't rev past a certain rpm range.
