Another problem...halp

Seems like I get a new problem every week, jeez...
Today I was home sick so I figured why not reset my tps like i've been planning to do, so I let it warm up first, its idling at a ridiculous 2k, then i shut if off, let it cool, then start it back up, it idles at about the same, then I adjust it to 800 and plug the harness back in...
Then I notice a lot of smoke coming from the radiator, last time I saw smoke coming from my radiator coolant started to come out of the thermo housing. This is the third time i have reseated the thermo and applied gasket to the housig etc and I made sure that I did it right...
It might be possible that since I removed the fan shroud that I didn't notice the smoke before, but i am doubtful of that...
So thanks any help would be great.:grinyes:

maby you have a hole in the radiator...and smoke, not mist...means your out of water and thats steam....VERY BAD!...

I just filled it to the top with coolant (pre mixed 50/50) I don't think I have a hole but i'll check, it's a fairly new koyo radiator (about less than 2 years old), and an apex'i radiator cap, how can you tell the diff between smoke and mist, I just assumed smoke I wasn't really sure...

well...you ever seen steam? lol, its a pretty obvious difference.
Look for water under the car too.

I've seen both an honestly can't tell the difference, it was white, so i guess it might be steam? Looking under the car would be pointless b/c I recently had coolant spill all over the ground when it overflowed the draining tub

sounds kinda shtty dont know what to tell u but once summer hit 50/50 mix mihgt be a little much from what ive read at least. the my next advice is to learn how to spell help since you are one to correct grammar. then i would go put on a boiling pot of water to double check what steam looks like

I don't recall correcting anyones spelling or grammar...
I guess it is steam b/c I do have a lot of coolant in my radiator, I ran 50/50 all summer and it didn't hurt my car, I heard ideally you run 75/25 but whatever...

You removed the fan shroud? Ive heard that doing that won't direct the air through the radiator, making it overheat ALOT. Its possible that just that amount of extra heat is making you overheat and boil over. Idling is the worst thing since air isnt moving over it from driving, and since you removed the shroud, the fan was doing sqaut, plus you were idling at 2k. That might be the reason for overheating, but i have no clue why it would leak and you could see the steam like that...Put the shroud back on and see if it helps keep the overheating down.
What's the boiling point of coolant? Just curious.

I actually drove it 20 miles to Irwindale, got lost going the wrong direction coming back, so like 25 back and the car was fine, the funny thing is all i did was add some more coolant set the idle at 800 and drive off b/c my friends were waiting and i didnt really have time...thanks for helping
I have no idea what you are talking about sidewayz ?
