Shifter disaster

I left car to the care of my mom while I was in mexico and i come back to find out the screw came off my Levoc shifter (I still never learned how it did) and that she ripped the wires out of the inside of the knob when she accidentally pulled it off :( . So now I am looking for a new one and I am considering the A.E. shifter. I was wondering if the auto A.E. shifter will fit on my 2000 Maxima?I heard that i had to sand the little plastic thing a little so that i can turn my key all the way out. Also how much will it cost me? is it possible to get it anywhere besides a nissan dealership?:confused: Thanks in advance:D
