Two out of the the last three parts I got from AZ were wrong. Nothing is more frusturating than taking your car apart in your driveway just to find out you got parted.
AutoZone really droped the ball.

hm... my #1 reason why i never shop at autozone, because the parts they give you are rarely the correct part. i'll stick with advance auto or napa

I was buying a new battery at the AZ up the road from me and I had my truck there and they still sold me the wrong one.
My dad had to go back and get the right one...
I think the guys that work at the one here are pervs too...they always creep me out.

Yea I hate autozone too, I refuse to go there so I drive an extra 10min to a discount auto. The service sucks and whenever I was in there, I would have to correct them....always.

That's why I do my research ahead of time. Go onto AZ's site and get the model numbers or whatever. Then just give the dipshits the model number, but be sure to double check. Usually works for me. Or just go to NAPA.

I have always gotten the wrong parts from them. I replaced the same cv shaft 3 times before it was right. Everytime I went to get the part it was the wrong one for my car, it still fitted but it wore out quick. I'm going to have to replace my cv's again here soon, even though they are only 6-7 months old. After the 3rd time replacing that cv I had to run all over the place to get it. So I got into a agruement over the phone with the store up home, needless to say when I went in to pick up the part once again she strted yelling at me. After a few minutes of yellking and swearing at each other (infront of customers). The manger came out and banned me from the store. Oh well, p*ss on them because I get a 20% discount from advanced. Needless to say worst parts store ever!! :2cents:

Autozone has been fairly good to me in Colorado. I do like the service and KNOWLEDGE that Checker has (easily been the most helpful). I've only been to Advance once. Pepboys is afwul here too.:puke: but hey, theres good/bad about every place.

I think what it boils down to is that, customer service and nice people are getting harder to find at retail places such as part stores and other places. :2cents:

My ex used to work at an AZ in the late 90's and always got the part right, but then she could rebuild engines better than most guys. So I would go to AZ just cuz I still carry a little flame for her, but I dont think I will be going back any time soon.

I understand not knowing about every vehicle on the road, but with all the information at their fingertips, can't they pretend that they have a clue?

The only problem I've had with AZ is waiting in line for 20+ minutes to get my parts. Then it seems that at all the AZs nearby have only 3 guys working behind the desk tied up on the phone most of the time. I don't blame the employees because I've worked retail and I know how it gets. But if companies would give in and actually hire some hands to take care of business then we customers would be a lot happier. By the way, if it's busy inside, don't even bother asking for an engine scan, they'll make you wait until they're finished with all their other customers.

There's only 1 AutoZone in town that I get good service and correct parts from. They used to be a 5 minute drive away until we moved. Now they're 25 miles away. I still go there sometimes if I really need something and have time to kill.

But don't blame AZ's, Some of the others do the exact same....if that wasn't stated already.

Yea you're right, I went to Oreilly auto parts for another scan just to see if they would get the same reading...once again I had to wait over 25 minutes for a scan. Then when they did scan my car, they said there were no codes to be found, so either AZ or Mr.O's was wrong.....think I'll just fork over 150 bucks for a scanner and do it myself next time...

I've never had a problem with any autoparts store. AutoZone, Napa, O'Reilly's, Kragen, Bumper-to-Bumper. I go in knowing what I need, if not having it in hand, and tell them, "I need ****** and nothing else, no substitutes."
I usually get it right off. At worst, I look at it, then explain the part and they go back and grab the right one. The ONLY time I have left the store with the wrong part, was a thermostat for a minivan. My mother-in-law's van needed a new one, and I didn't know which size engine she had, so I got it for the most common, which was wrong. I explained to them (AZ) and they happily exchanged the part for me, for the correct part.
Ya'll just need to be better prepared, and be firm.

A guy at work was talking about Auto Zone. His mechanic told him to stay away from AZ. Don't remember the exact reasons, but this may have been just one.

I've gotten bad parts from most of the major parts stores here in new england. I think it all depends on the accuracy of the person who puts the books into the computers, the person picking the parts, and the manufacturer when they are packaging the parts. As for regional chains, VIP is probably the worst I have ever dealt with. Defective new parts, wrong parts, and cores sold as new parts are probably the worst problems I have had with them. The GM dealership here isn't much better, got 2 defective thermostats from them, anyone who has changed one on a 2.3 quad will know how much they suck to change.

here in central valley in cali (modesto, ceres, turlock) all the AZ's ive been to parts wise have been great. the only gripe i have with them is the line wait ALL THE DAMN TIME. every part ive gotten has been the right one and not faulty. unlike kragen or napa (6 out of 10 electronic (starters alts) are shit there) and i never talk to the youngsters there which are few here. most of the employees now what there talking about. glad im not where you guys are at. cause that would suck i like az
