Ok im looking at a 95 GMC 2500 with a blown motor. so what do i need for a motor swap, what generation are the parts interchangable in, and will chevy parts work on the GMC, im assuming they would but you never really know. also what are any difference in the silverado and sierra other then badging?

If it is a tbi you can use any tbi motor from 88 - 95. You can change to a bigger engine too! Yes, GMC and Chevrolet are the same. Good luck.

well i know chevy and GMC are the same, i just didnt know if for some reason that they had different parts, im probably just going to drop another 350 in cause there is less work.

mechanically GMC and Chevy are the same, I was told by a friend who works in a bodyshop that some body parts are differnt between the two on recent year models, other than some of the trim stuff and interior...you are driving the same thing. I would have to say that GMC design usually looks better.

If it's a 2500 it came with a 4 bolt main. 1500s came with 2 bolt mains.
You have to use a motor from 88 through 95. Which is a tbi motor.
You can buy a complete motor from GM for 1600 to 1800 bucks.
