I have a 1990 honda accord, the thermostat was bad and my boyfriend replaced it. after he finished, the car kept dying and restarted after switching it off. now, the car won't restart at all. i suspect he knocked something about while he was replacing the thermostat. could someone please tell me what might be the trouble? it was fine before that and I had the distributor and rotor replaced just 2 months ago.

First of all is the check engine light coming on? I would check it for a code using the jumper method that is available on all hondas. I have to tell you to check the wires and the wiring on some of the sensors located around the area and I wouldn't rule out the possibility that you may have disrupted the life of some component when working in the area. For instance, the internal coil on the car could be the culprit. Have you got spark at the plugs? Always start with spark and fuel.

if i can remember correctly...i think there may be a ground on the thermostat housing....have him double check to see if thats loose. had the same problem w/ my friends civic...it would start then shut off...we rechecked the grounds...and found the loose ground by the thermostat.
